SEC Grants Conditional Relief for Tokenized-Stock Trading
The U.S. SEC granted temporary, conditional exemptions for certain tokenized-securities venues and liquidity providers from specified exchange and dealer definitions. Venues must meet conditions including permissioned participation, sanctions compliance and issuer objection rights; antifraud rules still apply. The relief is not a blanket license for public-blockchain trading.
PARADIGM INSIGHTS:
The SEC's temporary relief is a test of a bounded market structure, not permission for tokenized stocks everywhere. Permissioned participants and issuer objection rights help define the perimeter, but a contested transfer still needs preserved records, an accountable operator and a place to be heard. That dispute layer is a proposal beyond the relief's stated conditions, not a condition the SEC has imposed.
