Mauritius Ratifies the Singapore Convention on Mediation
UNCITRAL confirms Mauritius ratified the Singapore Convention on Mediation on Aug. 17, with entry into force for Mauritius on Feb. 17, 2027. Scope is commercial mediated settlement agreements.
PARADIGM INSIGHTS:
Mediation only helps a cross-border deal if the settlement can travel. Parties should check that a commercial agreement falls within the Convention, that local implementation applies and that an enforcing court can identify its terms. Mauritius has ratified, but entry into force there is February 17, 2027. The treaty is an enforcement path, not a forum for every dispute.
