Kenya's President Calls for African AI Capacity
At the UN General Assembly, President William Ruto called for African countries to develop and govern AI systems that reflect local languages and priorities, emphasizing infrastructure and skills.
PARADIGM INSIGHTS:
Local-language models are a start, not the end of African AI capacity. The harder infrastructure is people and institutions able to audit a system, hear a user's challenge and correct a harmful decision. A Digital Innovation Hub matters when it connects that technical capacity to public authority without displacing it.
