African Court and UNESCO Train Court Staff on AI
The African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights and UNESCO held a four-day AI and rule-of-law seminar in Arusha during the Court's 82nd ordinary session. More than 50 participants included judges, legal officers and other staff; the program addressed responsible use and fairness risks.
PARADIGM INSIGHTS:
Judicial AI training matters when it becomes a repeatable practice for checking sources, spotting fabricated material and recording a human reason for a decision. A seminar is a starting point, not proof that safeguards operate in every case. The next test is whether staff and parties have a way to flag and correct an AI error before it becomes part of a judgment.
